Description
BLANKNEY MAIN STREET TF 0660 (west side) 7/15 Cosi-Cot and attached Cottage GV II Pair of cottages. c1835 by W A Nicholson. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings. Slate roofs with ashlar coped gables with moulded kneelers, and finials. Two rows of 3 ridge, and a single row of 3 lateral octagonal Tudor style white brick and ashlar stacks. Chamfered white brick and ashlar plinth, flush ashlar quoins. Single storey plus attic. Symmetrical front, with central pair of single-light windows and buttress between, flanked by single 4 centred arched, ashlar doorways with 4-panel doors. Either side are projecting gabled cross wings with single 3- light windows under dripmoulds. Above a central oriel window projecting from a gabled through eaves dormer, and supported on a bracket resting on the buttress. The upper cross wings each have a 2-light window under a dripmould. All the windows are glazing bar casements in recessed and chamfered mullion ashlar surrounds. This- building is part of the complete estate village erected by the Chaplin family of Blankney Hall.
