Description
STOKE ROCHFORD PRIVATE ROAD SK 92 NW (east side) 6/156 Home Farmhouse, sawmill and stores G.V. II Farmhouse, sawmill and stores. Early C19. Squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, stone coped slate roofs with decorative finials, single gable and ridge moulded ashlar stacks. T-plan. The farmhouse is in the right hand end of the long range and the sawmill in the shorter range at right angles. 2 storey, 13 bay front, the eighth bay from the right is slightly advanced and separately gabled, and contains a pair of tall double doors under semi-circular head. To right are a slatted gate, planked door, a window opening, a pair of 2 light casements, plank and muntin door and further 2 light casement. To left a further slatted gate, planked door, louvred light, 2 planked doors and a fixed light. To first floor the advanced bay has a pair of double doors under segmental arch, with to right 3 glazing bar sliding sashes and a 2 light casement. To left, 2 planked double doors and a sliding glazing bar sash. In the gable of the advanced bay a blocked circular opening. All windows have segmental ashlar heads, doors are similar but more rounded. The parallel range saw mill complex was fed by water from the adjacent mill race. In the gable end are 5 deeply segmental headed openings at ground level, 3 with 3 light sliding sashes and small fanlights over. The outer pair are blocked. In the sides are further segmental headed doors and openings. Interior preserves water wheel. Listing NGR: SK9129128489
