Description
TF 04 SE ASWARBY AND SWARBY WOOD LANE (East Side) 5/25 Nos. 1 and 2 G.V. II Pair of estate cottages. c.1850, altered C20. Built for the Whichcote family of Aswarby Park. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, slate roofs with raised stone coped gables and moulded kneelers, 2 banks of triple ashlar ridge stacks with diamond set funnels. Single storey plus attics 4 bay front having 4 windows to ground floor and 4 gabled through eaves dormers with raised stone coped gables , moulded kneelers and ashlar cheeks. All windows are 2 light plain casements with chamfered timber mullions. To either end are slightly projecting gabled porches, each containing glazed doors beneath chamfered segmental arches. In the gables are the Whichcote cypher. Listing NGR: TF0676140016
