Description
TF 03 NE ASWARBY AND SWARBY MAIN STREET (North side) 7/14 Nos. 1 and 2 G.V. II Pair of estate cottages. c.1850. Built for the Whichcote family of Aswarby Park. Coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, slate roofs having raised stone coped gables with moulded kneelers with 2 banks of triple lozenge set ashlar ridge stacks with stepped cornices. L- plan. To the street is a single storey plus attics 3 bay front, the left hand bay is gabled. To ground floor are 3 two light windows. In the roof are 2 through eaves dormers with raised stone coped gables, ashlar cheeks and 2 light windows. To left is a further 2 light window. All windows have chamfered rectangular surrounds, moulded hoods and chamfered timber mullions. To right is a gabled porch with planked door and a chamfered segmental outer arch bearing the Whichcote cypher. To left side front is a pair of 2 light windows to the ground floor and a matching pair of 2 light through eaves dormers in the roof. To left is a gabled porch matching that to the street front.
