Description
SK 9248-9348 CAYTHORPE CHURCH LANE (north side) 8/44 Nos 8 and 10 G.V. II 2 houses, formerly one. C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed ironstone rubble, ashlar quoins, ashlar and brick dressings, pantiled roof with stone coped gables and 2 brick ridge stacks. 6 bay facade, 2 storeys plus garrets. Two central doorways. That to the left has panelled door with brick segmental head, that to the right has recessed C20 glazed door with timber lintel. To left of doors are two 3 light cavetto moulded mullioned windows with moulded surrounds and cornices. Between these windows is a small square blocked C17 opening. To right two 3 light Yorkshire glazing bar sashes, with beyond a blocked C17 doorway with ashlar reveals. On first floor tn left are two 2-light casements,and to right two 3-light Yorkshire sashes with moulded C17 reveals from mullioned windows. All windows have timber lintels apart from the lower left hand pair. Inside, the left hand house retains chamfered beams with shield shaped stops and both have an oak roof with clasped purlins. In the garrets of the right hand house, the elm board partitions of the servants quarters remain. Listing NGR: SK9376148554
