Description
SK 94 NE CAYTHORPE CAYTHORPE HEATH LANE 4/30 Garden Terraces, Caythorpe Court G.V. II Garden terraces, circa 1900, by Sir R Blomfield. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings. The 2 terraces are on the west (garden) front of the house. The first has a battered revetment wall with pilasters, and is surmounted by an open balustrade, the square piers of which have cornices and large stone balls. The central opening leads onto a platform supported by an open segmental arch, from which balustraded staircases descend to either side. The lower terrace also has a battered and pilastered wall, but it terminates in a plain stone coping. The central opening leads to a solid platform from which a pair of flanking balustraded stairs descend to the lower terrace. The terraces frame the prospect of the main west front of the house.
