Description

This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 19/04/2016. Name and address was changed from The Lafford Restaurant to 21, Northgate. The opening sentence of the description was amended to say Former Lodge. NORTHGATE No 21 (The Lafford Restaurant) TF 06 45 1/14A Grade II GV Lodge now restaurant. c1850 by Charles Kirk of Sleaford, in the French Gothic style. Ashlar with sandstone bands. Steeply pitched hipped slate roof with lead dressings, wrought iron finials and ridge pieces, with ashlar ridge stacks. 2 storey plus attics. 3 bay front, the centre bay advanced, with plinth, moulded first floor band and elaborately bracketed cornice. To the left, a rusticated archway with keystone. In the centre a pair of glazing bar casements with carved heads in moulded stone surround with small top lights. To right is a tall single light transom. To the first floor is a central, 3 light mullion and transom window flanked by single tall transom lights. Attached to the rear of the building is a single storey square block with pyramidal roof and open ventilator panels beneath eaves level. Listing NGR: TF0675245927
