LINCOLN SK9771NE GREESTONE TERRACE 1941-1/9/460 (North side) 08/10/53 No.2 (Formerly Listed as: GREESTONE TERRACE (North side) Nos.1 AND 2) GV II 2 houses, now one. Late C16, altered mid to late C17. Refronted late C18, probably for the Rev. E Bromhead. Coursed squared stone with brick front and plain tile roof with brick gable and ridge stacks. EXTERIOR: plinth, first floor band, coped gable with stone kneelers. 3 storeys plus attics; 5 window range of segment headed glazing bar sashes. The first has 16 panes, the second is blocked, the 3 to right have 12 panes. Above the blocked window, a small casement, flanked to left by a single glazing bar sash. To its right, 2 similar windows, then a blocked window. Above again, two C20 flat roofed dormers. On the ground floor, an off-centre wooden doorcase with cornice on brackets, panelled reveal and fielded 6-panel door. To its left, a door with moulded wood surround, then a large segment headed 3-light casement. To right, three segment headed 12-pane sashes. INTERIOR has a central entrance hall spanned by a moulded elliptical arch with fluted pilasters, and containing a branching stair with 3 stick balusters per tread and ramped and scrolled hardwood handrails. On either side, a fielded 6-panel door, the right one to a cupboard, the left to the adjoining kitchen and cellar. Dining room, to right, has a cased spine beam and a late C18 fireplace with hob grate, flanked to right by a cupboard. Under the windows, panelling and shelves. On the half-landing, a panelled dado and domed recess over the lower stair flight. First floor rooms have cased beams and fielded 6-panel doors. The right room has a C19 slate fireplace with bracketed shelf and Delft tile surround. The left room has a late C18 moulded wood fireplace with hob grate, flanked to right by a fitted cupboard. Second floor has winder stairs and fielded 2-panel doors. Right and left rooms have hob grates with moulded wood surrounds. Attics have stairs with landings and stick balusters with moulded handrails. Rooms are divided by stud partitions and fielded 2-panel and 6-panel doors.
