Description
TF 2569 HORNCASTLE WEST STREET (south side) No.31,(Cromwell 6/98 House ) 18.9.84 G.V. II House. Early C18, late C18. Red brick. Pantile roof with gable stacks. 3 storeys, including late C18 top storey, 5 bay front re-modelled in late C18. First and second floor brick bands. Central doorway with segmental head, overlight and panelled door. Doorway flanked by 2 glazing bar sashes on each side, with 5 similar windows above, all with segmental heads. Single smaller glazing bar sash above, flanked by 2 blind openings on each side, all 5 with segmental heads, and the outer blind openings painted black. Low 2 storey range to rear with very tall gable stack. C18 oak panelled room, cornices, staircase, window shutters and window seats. House was owned by Sir Joseph Banks. Listing NGR: TF2562169634
