Description

CONINGSBY TF 2258 HIGH STREET 1503/11/10001 (Northwest side) 15-MAY-00 97 The Cedars II House. Early C18 with addition c1830. Red brick with pantile roof and yellow brick addition with slate roof and ashlar coped gables and gable stacks. 2 storey. South front has symmetrical 3 window fa‡ade with rendered and rusticated piers at each corner. Central doorway with 6-panel door and margin light overlight in painted pilastered surround. Either side single glazing bar sashes with stucco lintels. Above 3 slightly smaller glazing bar sashes with stucco lintels. Rear of this later wing has single glazing bar sash to each floor. West front has doorway to right with blocked over light, to left a glazing bar sash then a C20 half-glazed door. Above two sliding sashes. Rear fa‡ade has off-centre doorway with plank door flanked by irregular windows that to far right a large sliding sash. INTERIOR entrance hall has incised plaster walls, 6-panel doors in reeded doorcases with patera and a wooden staircase with turned baluster and moulded hand rail. Reception rooms on either side have similar doors and doorcases, moulded coving and shutters. Dining room has surviving marble fireplace. Upper floor has similar doorcases and doors plus original fireplaces and coving. Earlier rear wing retains spine beams, plank doors and broad floorboards. C19 cast-iron range to central room in original stone fire surround. Listing NGR: TF2246658207
