Description

TF 29 NE GRAINSBY GRAINSBY LANE (North West side), Grainsby Park 1048/4/10003 Stable Block to former Grainsby Hall II Stableblock. c1820. White brick with white brick and ashlar dressings. Shallow hipped slate roofs. Raised white brick plinth, quoins and bands. Largely single storey. Quadrangular plan. South-west front has low coped brick wall with central square gatepiers topped with pyramidal caps. North-west and south-east wings are single storey with plain bracketted eaves cornice, each with 6 round headed openings. South-east block, to right, has 2 tall brick stacks and 2 central doorways flanked by single round headed sashes [now boarded] and beyond single narrow lancet windows [now boarded] in round headed panels. North-west block to left has alternating stable doors and round headed windows [now boarded]. End walls to south-east each have single round headed window. Side walls link these side blocks to main range. North-east main range has projecting central coach house and flanking wings. These single storey wings each have 4 round headed openings, with a single doorway and 3 windows [now boarded]. Central coach house has segmental arched carriage arch with double plank doors and above 3 circular hayloft windows [now boarded]. Above pedimented gable with dentilated eaves. This building was originally built to serve Grainsby Hall which was demolished in 1972. Listing NGR: TF2715299102
