Description

TF 2569 HORNCASTLE MARKET PLACE (North side) 1499/6/10004 The Post Office II Post office. 1929-30 by H T Rees for the GPO. Red brick with painted render and plain tile roof with two brick stacks. 2 storeys. Moulded plinth and exposed brick plinth. Street front has 5 windows with central doorway. Wooden door surround with panelled pilaster supporting console brackets and a flat hood with segmental fanlight above. Either side single square lamps supported on iron brackets. To left small notice board in moulded wooden surround with segmental pediment. Either side 2 segment headed cross windows with moulded and decorated transoms and sunk panels below. Above 5 cross casement windows with flat heads. Above again 3 flat headed dormer windows with 2-light casement windows. Side returns have 2 windows with similar fenestration. INTERIOR has original plasterwork in the main sales hall with original wooden counters doors and doorways. Listing NGR: TF2587269651
