TF 35 NW CARRINGTON MAIN STREET New Bolingbroke (west side) 4/7 Church of 3.2.67 St. Peter G.V. II Parish church. 1854 by S. S. Teulon. Red brick, some blue brick and ashlar dressings. Plain and fish scale tile roofs with coped gables and single ridge crosses to the west and east nave, east chancel, porch and organ chamber. 2 stacks to the north aisle. Set on a chamfered plinth and buttressed. Nave, north aisle, south porch, north organ chamber and vestry, north east tower and chancel. The west nave with single 2 light pointed arched window with reticulated tracery, hood mould and human head label stops. Either side and set lower are single similar single light windows. Continuous stepped sill band. In the apex is a single cinquefoil with continuous hood mould. The west wall of the north aisle has a single arched 2 light window with reticulated tracery. The north wall has a doorway with plank door, to the left are 3 trefoil arched lights. Further left is the projecting organ chamber. The north wall with single large trefoil arched window with central arched niche with colonnettes and decorative capitals containing a single carved figure of an angel. Hood mould and label stops over. Either side are single trefoil arched lights with single central quatrefoil over, hood mould and label stops. Stepped sill band extending around the west and east sides. To the left, set back in the vestry, is a single quatrefoil. The east wall of the vestry has a single arched window with 2 trefoil arched lights and single transom. The tower is set obliquely and has set into a slightly projecting lean-to a moulded arched doorway with single pair of colonnettes, decorative capitals, ogee arched hood mould, human head label stops and decorative finial. Above is a single pointed arched light with reticulated tracery and flanked by single colonnettes with decorative capitals. Above is a single clock face. North west side with single blind trefoil arch being corbelled out over. Over is an octagonal plinth, each side decorated with single blind quatrefoil, supporting the louvred octagonal cupola with conical roof. The north chancel has a single arched 2 light window with reticulated tracery, hood mould and human head label stops. Stepped sill band extending to east and south chancel. The east chancel has a single arched 3 light window with cusped tracery, hood mould and human head label stops. The south chancel has a single 2 light arched window and to the left a single 3 light arched window both with reticulated tracery, hood mould and human head label stops. The south nave has a single arched single light window with reticulated tracery. To the left are 3 similar 2 light windows and further left is the porch with moulded and chamfered arched entrance supported on a single pair of colonnettes with decorative capitals, hood mould and human head label stops. Each side wall with single pair of trefoil arched lights. Inner moulded and chamfered arched doorway with hood mould and human head label stops. To the left is a single single light window with reticulated tracery. Interior. 5 bay nave arcade, the left single bay being narrower, with double chamfered arches supported on octagonal columns with high plinths and moulded capitals, the easternmost capital and east respond capital with foliate decoration. Hood mould to nave side with carved angel and decorative label stops. Moulded and chamfered chancel arch, the inner order supported on circular responds with fillets and foliate decorated capitals. Hood mould and human head label stops to the nave side. To the left is a single blind trefoil arch, being corbelled out over. Vestry doorway with pointed arch contaning trefoil. Hood mould and left decorative label stop. C19 decorative ashlar font and pulpit. Remaining furnishings C19 and C20. Chancel roof supported on angel carved corbels. Listing NGR: TF3079557894
