Description

WISPINGTON TF 27 SW 4/62 Hall Farm House II Farm house. Late C16 with major early C18 and C20 alterations. Colour washed red brick with pantile roof and 4 gable stacks to parallel range plan. 2 storey with garret 3 bay front with plinth, deep band and corbelled out eaves, 3 glazing bar sashes with recessed panels beneath to ground floor and 3 smaller sashes to first floor. The main entrance is in the left hand side front, behind a C20 porch. To the right hand side is a C20 conservatory. To the rear range is an early C19 2 storey service range. Interior retains some early C18 shutters, part of a C18 stair with knopped and turned balusters, and a staggered butt purlin softwood pegged roof. The house was occupied by the Phillips family during late C16-1720 and there are memorials to them in the Church. Although there are no obvious remains from the late C16, C17 period, the plan of the C18 house is complicated because it was adapted around an existing house.
