Description
TF 04 SE ASWARBY AND SWARBY WOOD LANE (West Side) 5/24 The Old Smithy G.V. II Former smithy, now store, 1846. Built for the Whichcote family of Aswarby Park. Coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, slate roof, 2 gable stacks. Single storey 3 bay front, the middle bay is advanced and gabled. Central planked door flanked by single fixed plain lights. All openings have segmental arched heads. Above the door is an ashlar panel bearing a large horseshoe and the date 1846. To left is a slightly recessed shoeing bay with double planked doors and a segmental ashlar inner arch. Listing NGR: TF0674040038
