Description
BRINKHILL MAIN STREET TF 37 SE (west side) 3/7 Church of St. Philip 3.2.67 G.V. II Parish church. 1857 by Maugham and Fowler. Red brick with greenstone bands. Ashlar dressings. Stone coped slate roofs with decorative ridge tiles. Nave with western bellcote, south porch, chancel. The west end has central and angled buttresses and 2 lancets. The gabled bellcote has a cross fleury and a trefoil headed bell opening. Side walls of the nave have single and paired lancets. The north and south walls of the chancel have single lancets and in the east is a 3 light stepped lancet with moulded hood with floriate stops. The gabled south porch has a chamfered and pointed outer door with hood mould. The inner doorway is similar. Interior. The chancel arch has clustered shafted reveals, annular capitals and bases, double chamfered pointed arch with hood. The east window has shafted rear arches. Tiled chancel. All fittings are C19 apart from C13 octagonal font bowl and capitals to C19 shafted base with C18 conical wooden cover. Listing NGR: TF3721473731
