Description
BELTON & MANTHORPE SK9237 LOW ROAD, Manthorpe 1315-0/11/131 (South East side) 21/09/79 No.34 White Steps II Estate cottage, now house. Mid C19, with late C20 alterations. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and renewed pantile roofs. 2 coped stone gable stacks. Tudor Revival style. Quoins, coped gables with kneelers. Single storey plus attics; 3 window range. Reglazed windows have chamfered stone surrounds and mullions. 3 gabled through-eaves dormers with 2-light windows. Central board door with ornamental hinges and wooden surround, flanked by 3-light cross casements. To right, a single storey lean-to addition with a 3-light metal framed casement with stone mullions. An estate cottage provided for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N, Harris J & Antram N: Lincolnshire: London: 1964-1989: 550).
