Description
BELTON & MANTHORPE SK9237 HIGH ROAD, Manthorpe 1315-0/11/118 (South East side) 21/09/79 No.13 II House. c1800, remodelled as an estate cottage 1853, with late C20 alterations. Brick and coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and pantile roof. Central coped brick ridge stack. 2 storeys; 2 window range. Coped facing gable has kneelers and a reglazed 2-light window with stone surround and mullion. Below, a similar 3-light window. Both windows have cornices. Right return has to left a high-gabled porch with plinth, heavy impost band, coped gable, finial and datestone. Round arched doorway with cornice keystone, and a small round arched window in each side. To right, a single storey lean-to addition with a coped through-eaves dormer and single light window. An estate cottage provided for workers on the Belton estate by the Brownlow family of Belton House. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N, Harris J & Antram N: Lincolnshire: London: 1964-1989: 550).
