BURWELL MAIN STREET TF 37 NE (east side) 8/9 Buttercross and dovecote, now 9.3.67 Village Hall II Buttercross, later adapted to dovecote, now village hall. c.1700, mid C19, C20. Red brick. Octagonal C19 slate roof with C19 chevroned brick eaves and plain octagonal cupola. Octagonal plan. Each side with a single blocked, semi-circular headed opening with moulded imposts, continuous flat band above with moulded pediment above each blocked opening. East side with C20 doorway inserted with panelled door flanked by weatherboarding. Doorway flanked by single C19 semi-circular headed windows with C20 glazing bar casements. North and south sides blind with 3 C19 semi-circular headed windows on west sides with C20 glazing bar casements. Bank's Collection. Lincoln Public Library. Volume I. Page 255.
