Description
TF 2669 HORNCASTLE NORTH STREET (east side) 7/68 No.40, (The Red House) G.V. II House. c.1830. Red brick, some colourwashed render and with colourwashed stucco dressings. Half gabled slate roof with 2 off-gable stacks. 2 storeys and basement, 5 bay front with rendered plinth containing 4 small, barred basement windows and first floor band. Central doorway in porch with modillioned open pediment, slender Doric columns and steps lead up to door with semi-circular headed doorcase, traceried fanlight, panelled reveals and door. Doorway flanked by 2 glazing bar sashes on each side. 5 glazing bar sashes above, the central window with ornate consoles supporting open pediment. All the other windows with stucco wedge lintels with voussoirs and raised keystones. Listing NGR: TF2604669773
