Description
TF 33 NW KIRTON STATION ROAD (south side) 9/56 Statue to William Dennis, in front of Kirton Town Hall II Statue to William Dennis. 1930. Sculptor P. Lindsey Clark. Ashlar and bronze. Portland stone base with carved panels to 3 sides representing potato production, drainage and wheat growing. On the face the inscription "William Dennis 1841-1921". The bronze figure is seated, with crossed ankles and a walking stick. At the rear is his hat. William Dennis made his fortune with a huge potato empire at the turn of the century and gave Kirton its town hall outside which the statue is located.
