Description
TF 34 NE FREISTON BAKERS LANE 8/75 Bakers Bridge II Bridge and sluice gate. c.1805, probably by John Rennie, with some C20 patching. Red brick in Fiemish bond, gritstone coping and curved cutwaters. Triple span, with 3 rebates for wooden sluice gates, coped side revetment walls. Narrow elliptical arches, brick band, pilasters, splayed parapet to end piers. One of a series of bridges on the Cowbridge Drain, laid out by John Rennie when the Fens were drained. Source: Neil R. Wright. Also in Fishtoft Parish. Listing NGR: TF3622545944
