Description
TF 3239-3339 FRAMPTON MIDDLEGATE ROAD (south side) 15/71 Group of 5 table tombs at Church of St. Mary, 10 metres north-east of chancel G.V. II 5 table tombs, all to members of Tunnard family. 1719-1815. Limestone ashiar. The earliest to Samuei Tunnard, flat top, corner balusters, side inscription panel. Next to Coney Tunnard, d.1736, builder of Frampton Hall, with fluted and gabled top, recessed corner balusters. Side inscription panels. More elaborate tomb to Richard Tunnard, d.1761, scrolled consoles to angles, egg and dart surrounds to inscription panels and acanthus swags. To John Tunnard d.1781, flat topped, paired corner balusters, raised and fielded panels. Finally to Thomas Tunnard, d.1815, in the Greek taste with recessed fluted angle pillars and fan shaped spandrels to the inscription panels. Listing NGR: TF3261139170
