Description

FOLKINGHAM SPRING LANE TF 0633-0733 (south side) 2/94 Spring Farmhouse G.V. II Farmhouse. 1693, late C18, C19. Coursed limestone rubble, limestone ashlar. Steeply pitched slate roofs with stone coped gables, some pantiles and tumbled, brick coped gable to rear. Large central ashlar tripartite ridge stack, single brick gable stack to rear. L-plan with single storey late C18 addition to rear creating Z-plan. 2 storeys and garret, 5 bay north front with central doorway, lobby entrance, with bracketed hood, wooden lintel, partially glazed door and datestone above inscribed "E.I.M. 1693". 2 windows to the right, a single window to the left with 4 windows above, all 2 light C19 casements with wooden lintels inserted into mullion window openings. East gable wall with blocked mullion window with 2 light casement with wooden lintel inserted into mullion window in garret. West gable end with 2 blocked mullion windows one above the other, a plain sash inserted on ground floor to right, and a 2 light garret casement with wooden lintel inserted into mullion window opening. 2 very large back to back inglenook fireplaces with chamfered bressumers and salt boxes. C19 staircase winds up to rear of stack. Several large chamfered beams. Listing NGR: TF0713233411
