Description
LEASINGHAM ROOKERY LANE TF 04 NE (north side) 8/45 Wellhead 10 metres north of Rookery Cottage - II Wellhead. C17 restored C20. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings. Circular in plan, standing 2 metres high with an ogee cap surmounted by a much weathered ball finial. The round arched opening to the south has ashlar quoins, large ashlar impost blocks and an ashlar keystone. This wellhead is similar to those at Digby, Coleby and Wellingore. Rookery Cottage, Rookery Lane is not included in this list. Listing NGR: TF0554248315
