Description

TF 00 NE UFFINGTON CASEWICK LANE (east side) 9/232 No.2 G.V. II Pair of estate cottages. c.1840. Coursed and banded limestone rubble, ashlar quoins and dressings, Collyweston slate roof with plain kneelers and ball finials to gables. 2 ridge stacks with plinths and dentillated cornices. 2 storey, 3 bay front, with stepped eaves and verges, 2 bays are gabled and the right hand one is advanced. Off-centre planked door with Gothic door furniture, in chamfered ashlar surround, flanked by low walls with sloping tops to a vanished wooden porch. To right a 3 light and a single light window and to the first floor a pair of 2 light windows. All windows have chamfered ashlar surrounds and mullions. In the right hand gable a square-recessed panel in a chamfered surround with terracotta plaque bearing the arms of the Earls of Lindsey. The main road front is of 3 bays with planked door covered by a tall gabled porch with curved wooden braces supported on brackets which spring from sloping stone coped side walls. To right are single 3 and 2 light windows. To first floor is a single 2 light window with above a plaque matching that to the side. All windows have chamfered surrounds and mullions.
