Description
UPGATE 1. 1348 (East Side) No 1 (The Corner House) TF 38 NW 1/18 II GV 2. C18. 2-storey stucco-covered house with rusticated quoins, plinth, cornice and a recessed panelled parapet, pantile roof hipped on corner. Upgate front:- 2 2-storey 3-light bows without glazing bars. Central entrance with pediment doorcase - a triangular pediment supported on 2 modern cut brackets broken over semi-circular head of doorway. Panelled reveals and soffit and 4-panelled door with fanlight above. Front in Chequergate:- 2 windows to both floors, modern sash in wide wooden cases; doorway off centre to left, wooden case, reeded pilasters, simple entablature. Forms a visual group with the Parish Church. No 1 forms a group with No 2 & 4 Chequergate. Listing NGR: TF3267787419
