Description

The report on a historic building recording that was undertaken at The Studio Nightclub, Craythorne Lane, Boston, prior to extensions and interior alterations to change the property into flats. The surveyed building comprised of two former warehouses, known as Gaol Granary and Sibsey Lane Warehouse. Gaol Granary is L-shaped in plan, and was likely built in the late-17th or early 18th century, based on the architectural detail and style. The building was originally 3 storeys with a pantile roof, with the upper floor and roof being removed in the 1970s. Sibsey Lane Warehouse is three storeys and roughly linear in plan, and dates from the mid 18th century, though material evidence suggests it may incorporate part of an earlier 17th century structure. The building underwent extensions in the 19th century. The buildings are conjoined at the southern elevation. The two buildings were combined in the late 20th century. The recording shows evidence of partitions and alterations in both buildings from its use as a nightclub.
