Abstract/Summary
Report on a historic building survey undertaken to inform the proposed conversion of an agricultural outbuilding, originally the east range of a large rectangular farming complex enclosing a central courtyard at Ferry Farm, Walkerith. The farm dates to the at least the 19th century - historic map analysis shows that the west range was demolished and the south range incorporated into a new smaller courtyard complex to the south prior to 1921, and the remaining north range was demolished bye 1937. A remnant of the north range remains attached to the northern end of the surviving outbuilding. An associated detached farmhouse is to the north. The extant outbuilding is a single storey north-south aligned gabled range of brick with a pitched pantile roof, bonded to the new farming complex at its southern end. The northern end of this building appears to have originally been used as a stable but has since been adapted for the accommodation of poultry. The use of the southern end is uncertain.
