PRN 39124 The Bluecoat School was built in 1873 and is by Richardson of Stamford. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the Bluecoat School was established originally in 1704, and was rebuilt in 1838. In 1856, 150 pupils attended the school. In the 1872 Directory, White notes that the school was 'being much enlarged… so as to enable it to accommodate 300 scholars', presumably with the construction of the current building. {2}{3} Large ashlar stone building, under a pitched gabled tile roof, forming two sides of a large courtyard.
