Full Description

The Wesleyan chapel on Main Road was built in 1838. It was constructed of red/brown brick and features a hipped roof with a slate covering. The structure was originally built with two tiers of windows, but was subsequently refenestrated with pointed windows with stained leaded glass. Three former bays of upper blocked segmental-headed windows with red brick arches can be discerned on the front elevation. A gabled porch was also added to the front elevation. It has a raised gable with stone copings and kneelers and a flat-headed doorway with a moulded stone doorway and paired panelled doors. An ashlar tablet inscribed 'Wesleyan Methodist Church 1838' has been reset above the porch. The side elevation have two bays of pointed windows set towards the rear. Iron railings survive. {1}{2}{3}{4} The building continued in use as a chapel until about 2016, when works to convert the structure to residential use can be discerned on Google Street View. The former iron railings were removed as part of the conversion. {5}
