Full Description

PRN 71058 Five trenches were excavated by Archaeological Project Services in October 2009 on land at the former Army Cadet Force HQ, Newport. Trench three revealed a pit which contained clay pipe and 17th to 18th century pottery. Trench four contained burnt stone, late 17th to 18th and 19th to 20th century pottery. {1}{2} During excavation in January to February 2010 and a watching brief in February to July 2010 by Archaeological Project Services, a pit, quarry pits and a limestone wall, all post medieval in date were found. Finds included pottery and clay pipe. {3}{4}
