Full Description
A former stable block which is now a cottage and garage dating from the mid 18th century, which underwent alterations in the late 18th and 20th centuries. It was constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and has a pantile roof with one gable and one ridge stack. The stable block is shown on the Claude Nattes drawing of 1793 in the Banks Collection, adjacent to the original 17th century Hackthorn Hall. Unnamed farmstead, Hackthorn. Extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is detached with the long axis facing on to the yard. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {2}
