Full Description

[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] The ashlar stone street front of this house dates to around 1700 and has bolection moulded decoration around the windows and forming panels. To the rear is an earlier, originally timber framed, wing of possible late medieval origin as well as a long range dating to around 1700 and later. The interior includes a staircase dating to around 1700 on the first and second floors, with a scar showing its former lower course. Until recently, there was also a room with bolection moulded panelling and also a bolection moulded fireplace in the rear range (both dating to around 1700). One room also had some early 19th century wallpaper. {1} This three storey house with attics dates to the early 18th century [this date is probably incorrect - see above] and is constructed of painted stone with a slate roof. It has bolection moulded decoration on the upper storeys. The ground floor has a modern shop front.
