Full Description

PRN 38601 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house and shop was built in the early 19th century, partly on the site of a possible demolished north wing of Digby House (PRN 37208). The front elevation is of ashlar stone and has a modern shop front. To the rear is an earlier stone wing and a small timber framed block which may have been part of a service wing for Digby House. {1} This two storey ashlar house dates to the mid 18th century [this date is probably incorrect - see above]. It has a slate mansard roof and two modern shops windows and door. The back elevation has wide gabled roofs and incorporates part of a medieval buttress. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2} The medieval buttress and other medieval fragments seem to have disappeared. {3}
