Full Description
[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This range of three houses was built in 1846 for Charles Lowe, wine merchant, and was designed by Charles Richardson. It is three storeys high and built of coursed rubble faced with ashlar on the street front and has a slate roof and brick barrel vaulted cellars. The street front windows include a projecting bay on the first floor and blind recesses on the top floor. The interior includes some original plaster cornices. In the late 19th century most of the interior was converted into a brewery. One of the houses is now a public house, The Lincolnshire Poacher. {1}{2}
This early 19th century building [see above for exact date] is of three storeys and built of ashlar stone with modern versions of 19th century shop fronts on the ground floor.
