Full Description

13 Barn Hill was built in 1740, according to the date shown on two rain water heads, although a blocked window in the rear wing indicates a possible 17th century origin for this part of the building. The house has been little altered since 1740 and contains many fine original features. {1} This fine house is two storeys in height with attics and is built of ashlar stone. It has good wrought iron railings on a small projecting wall attached to the house. The interior includes several fine panelled rooms and a good staircase as well as two fireplaces of exceptionally fine workmanship. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2} This house is described by Pevsner as 'one of the best houses in town'. {3}
