Full Description

PRN 38390 This two storey house dates to the late 16th or early 17th century. It has one larger and later gable above no. 36 and a small stone gable over a shallow, wide two-storey bay window. No. 36 has an attractive early 19th century shop front. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} This house is a late medieval timber framed house which was partly encased in stone in the 17th century. The original house had an open hall and two-cell cross wing. Part of the rear wall of the hall remains with evidence for an external chimney stack. The original hall roof also remains. The hall was floored over and the front wall replaced in the 17th century. In the early 18th century a rear wing was added behind the hall. The street front has a two-storey gabled bay window and an early 19th century shop front. {2}
