[Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.]
This house has a 16th or 17th century origin. Its walls are partly stone and partly timber framed, and the front wall is timber framed and jettied. The shop front with two bowed windows and the bow window above were added in the early 19th century. To the north of the main building is an early 19th century warehouse with an iron-wheeled winch and hoist. {1}
This house dates to the 18th century, perhaps with an earlier origin [see above]. It is two storeys in height and has painted stucco walls and a steep slate roof. It has a bowed first floor window and two bowed ground floor windows flanking a modern door. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
There is said to be a hidden four-centred fireplace at the west end of the shop, near the street. {4}
