Full Description

PRN 37628 [Note - where there is confusion or discrepancy between sources regarding the date of a building, the Royal Commission survey (which is the most detailed and recent) has been taken as the most reliable.] This house is probably 17th century in origin although the east chimney stack may be 18th century and the shop windows are later. The building had become a grocer's shop and house before 1858. The rear wall is timber framed. The interior includes a later 17th century door with scratch mouldings. In the yard is a barn which is probably 18th century. It was occupied by a miller by 1813 but may have originally been associated with the sack-making industry which was carried on at this site before 1799. {1} This two storey coursed rubble house dates from the late 18th century [this is probably incorrect - see above]. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
