Full Description

Grade I listed corner section of Close wall, dating from the late 13th century and altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is dressed stone with stepped pantile coping and is in an L-plan, running southwards from the diocesan offices, then eastwards to the remains of the Bishop's Palace. It is approximately 100 metres by 70 metres. Th east-west section has four buttresses, and an angle buttress to the south-west.
