Full Description
Many unlocated Roman coins have been found in Sleaford. These include a sestertius of Trajan, an antoninianus of Salonia (found near the river), a coin of Constantine II as Caeser and a coin of Valentinian I (found in a garden at Park Avenue). There are also reports of many Roman coins being found during the 19th century or earlier, inlcuding at least one concentration which may be a hoard. {1}{2}
'At Sleaford they have found many Roman coyns, especially of the Constantine family and their wives, about the castle and the springhead a little above the town.' {3}
