Full Description
The Coastguard station at Sutton on Sea is marked on the OS County Series map of 1905. {1}
A concrete platform survives for what is said to be the explosives store. Admiralty records show that the site had buildings for personel and a boat house nearby. These records suggest there was a previous building on the site. The name of the road it is on, Station Road, is said to refer to the Coastguard Station rather than the railway station that is on the same road. {2}
The Rocket Store or explosives store was photographed in 2004 before demolition. The building was red brick with yellow brick dressings and decorative bargeboards. It had at some point been converted to a garage. {3}
