Full Description

PRN 65022 Cropmark undated enclosures, Blankney. Seen on Google Maps (web site) aerial photograph layer.{1}{2} Further enclosures and roadways are visible in later Google aerial photography and other internet mapping sites. Some of these are field boundaries and a road running from the higher ground towards the fens and the River Witham. This road must have been closed when Metheringham RAF airfield was constructed. The road and some of the enclosures are visible on the 1889 OS map and are probably of medieval and post medieval origin. Other enclosures do not appear to respect the post medieval fields and may perhaps be earlier enclosures and\or perhaps natural features. {3}{4}
