The United Methodist Chapel on Saxon Street is first depicted on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1905. {1}
In addition to the centrally located community, a group of United Methodists had been formed "Uphill" in the 1850s; by the late 19th century they had a chapel in Saxon Street off Rasen Lane in Newport. {2}
The chapel was used as a place of worship and religious instruction, including a Sunday School, until its demolition sometime in the 1970s. {3}
