Full Description

Earthworks of medieval ridge and furrow, identified on aerial photographs by the National Mapping Programme. {1} The earthworks immediately adjacent to Horncastle Road were the subject of detailed topographical recording, conducted in November 2015, prior to proposed residential development. The survey recorded two distinct areas of parallel linear earthwork remains, separated by a boundary ditch. These remains were spaced approximately 8m apart, running on a north-west to south-east alignment, and displayed the typical reverse S curve of medieval ridge and furrow. Distinct headlands could be discerned at the northern end of both fields. {2}{3}
