Full Description

PRN 54924 A late 18th century farmhouse with attached barn. Constructed in brick with stucco dressings and a slate roof with gable brick stacks. It is two storeys high and has a three bay front, with a central half glazed front door. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on land at Manor Farm, Wickenby. The watching brief monitored the conversion of an existing barn to a dwelling, demolition of an existing single-storey concrete extension and erection of a replacement building and the excavation of underpinning pits, foundation trenches and drain runs. Excavation of the area of the Barn identified a number of foundation deposits which contained pottery dating to the late 17th and 18th century. Above these deposits lay a sandy make-up layer and a cobbled floor. The cobble floor only existed towards the east of the barn {2} {3} Manor House, Wickenby. Partially extant 18th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with linked working buildings to all four sides of the yard. The farmhouse is attached to a range of working buildings. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within or in association with a village. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {4}
