Full Description

Described as 'newly erected upon an old site' in 1821, this small tower mill worked until the early 1930s, latterly with no fantail, being hand winded when required. The sails were blown off in about 1931 after the curb distorted, causing the cap to jam. The cap had gone by the 1950s and the mill was allowed to become very derelict. A mill enthusiast aquired the mill in 1983 intending to restore it. Parts salvaged from other mills have been used. The project is likely to require several years to complete. {1} A red brick tower mill dated to 1821 with a conical felt roof. It has 3 stages and corbelled out eaves. There are 2 pairs of stones, a wooden great spur wheel and upright shaft inside. The tower mill worked until the sails blew off in the early 1930s.
