Described as being 'newly erected' in 1855, this mill is thought to date from the 1840s. It worked by wind until 1921 when the sails were removed. It then stood derelict for a while, still retaining its cap frame and wind shaft in 1942, although the stones had gone by this time. It now stands as a capless tower and is disused. There were four patent sails driving three pairs of stones, with another pair engine driven on the ground floor. {1}

Sutterton Mill was the subject of historical research in March 2011, when an assessment of its significance was produced to inform proposed alterations. The building is a former tower mill with an attached, two-storey, brick-built granary (see PRN 14588). The tower is of five storeys and was constructed of red brick laid in English bond. Sliding sash windows were to the first, second, third and fourth floors, all above the main double door entrance, although that on the first floor was boarded up at the time of inspection. The exterior of the tower was tarred up to the line of the first floor window. Remnants of lime wash could be seen on the interior of the ground floor. Whilst all of the former mill machinery has been removed, some pulley brackets are still present, fixed to the main beams between the ground and first floor. {3}
