Full Description

PRN 44708 Built in 1842 for William Balderston, this tower mill worked until 1952 when as a new cap was required, which the owners could not afford, it was dismantled and fitted with modern electric machinery. Work ceased finally in the late 1960s and the tower is now used for storage in connection with an engineering works. There were four patent sails driving three pairs of stones on the second floor, two grey and one French, with a further pair of greys on the first floor driven by engine. {1} A tower windmill now a store built in 1842 from tarred red brick.
